CASE-ing Christmas Challenge #28

Greetings!

How's your week going?  Mine is crazy, after being gone for four days last week, but it's worth it.  Our trip to Dallas was very educational, exciting, and fun.  Three college visits down, two more to go.  Today is Wednesday, so I can see the weekend light at the end of the tunnel approaching.  I am going to be a total bum, and do as little as possible.  I need to catch up on some much needed rest.  I hope your weekend will include lots of fun, and hopefully some crafting. :-)

The next CASE-ing Christmas challenge is posted, and there are a couple of changes.  We have new design team members, and we are now a monthly challenge blog, with posts going live on the 5th of each month.  There is also a monthly prize to be won.  Who doesn't like prizes, right?  To kick things off, this month's CASE card just happens to be one of mine.  Here is the original.

And here is my CASE'd card.

I stuck to the design, but changed up the colors and elements.  I love this new to me stitched hearts border die.  I was happy I got to use it, finally.  I switched out the pearl for a jingle bell, and embossed the sentiment, and called it done.  It's a pretty simple card, and it's fairly flat, so it will mail nicely.  I'm excited to have another Christmas card ready to send at the end of the year.  I'm going to enter this for the following challenges.

Christmas Cards All Year Round: Snowflakes
Crazy 4 Challenges #297: Include the word Happy on your project.
Papertake Weekly:  Anything Goes
Simon's Wednesday Challenge: Tie It Up

I hope you'll head over to the CASE-ing Christmas blog to see what fabulous inspiration is posted for you.  I also look forward to seeing how you interpret my original card.  Can't wait to see them all, and visit your blogs!

Have a wonderful day!

House of Cards August Challenge: Metallics

Hello everyone!

I hope you've had a wonderful week, and are going to have a wonderful weekend.  As you read this, my daughter and I are currently in Dallas, Texas, touring two more colleges.  Yesterday we visited TCU (which was awesome) and today we are visiting University of Texas Arlington.  We visited Iowa State University, back on the 24th, and loved it too, but I've asked her not to make a decision until we've visited all of the colleges she's chosen to apply to.  We have two more to go, later this month, and then she'll start applying.  This whole process is overwhelming, for both of us.  To say I'm emotional, is an understatement.  I am so proud and excited for her though.  She'll do great, whatever and wherever she decides.  The one thing I think might be a factor for her is the heat.  It's in the 90's with high levels of humidity right now, and she's not enjoying it.  Being from Texas, I'm used to it, so it doesn't bother me as much.  It's still pretty uncomfortable though.  I think we're going to hit up Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor after our college visit this morning.  That should help.

Anyway, onto why you're here today.  It's the first of the month, which brings us to our next House of Cards challenge.  This month, the challenge is to use Metallics.

This challenge was a bit difficult for me, as I don't really have much in the form of metallics.  I dug through my crafty stuff, several times, trying to find something.  Finally, I found some metallic cardstock that I had forgotten about.  Here is the card I made with them.

I love the bright, cheerful colors, and the card screams summer, to me.  I used a bit of metallic gold mist, for the background, but ultimately kept it fairly simple.  I know exactly who will receive this card, and I hope she enjoys it.  She's been my longtime friend, and never ceases to amaze, with her generosity.  I love her dearly.

There are so many inspiring cards today, created by my friends at House of Cards.  I do hope you'll head over to check them out.  You'll have until 11pm on August 31st to participate.  That's a whole month!  Hopefully, you'll get the chance to play along, so that I can visit your blogs, and see your beautiful creations.  I look forward to seeing them!

It's off to UT Arlington, then an afternoon of roller coasters and water slides for us.  I hope you have an awesome weekend!

Hugs!

Hello

Good day to all!

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend, filled with all kinds of good stuff.  I had great intentions of hanging out at the pool, but that didn't happen.  Instead, I've been dealing with a work issue, since about 6:30 this morning.  No worries though.  Things always wind up working out.  And, I got the chance to make this card. :)

I absolutely adore the way this background turned out!  There's just something about a rainbow that makes me smile, every time I see one.  This is no exception.  I mentioned that I wanted to use my stencils more often, so last night I got them all inky.  I should have more for you to see over the next few days, using stencils, hopefully.  I'm excited to have another card for my stash, and I was excited to be able to participate in the following challenges.

Cardabilities #126:  Sketch
Alphabet Challenge:  K is for Kind Thoughts
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #13:  Anything Goes
We Love 2 Create #14:  Anything Goes

That's all for me.  I'm off to start dinner, and then maybe watch a movie with my daughter.  I hope you have a wonderful afternoon!

Stay crafty my friends!

Friends

Howdy!

It's hot out today, so my daughter and her BFF are at the pool.  I chose to stay indoors to catch up on some chores, and make some stuff. It's going be in the 90's tomorrow, so we'll all probably hit the pool to cool off.  I'm hoping to work on my tan. lol

Here is a card I made this morning.

I love any shade of blue or purple with yellow, so this card makes me super happy.  I mixed some embossing paste with some MFT Lavender Fields ink, for the damask background.  I will definitely do this again.  It's so pretty, and adds a lot of texture.  I really need to use my stencils more too.  I'm going to send this to a dear friend, whom I love quite a lot.  Hope she likes it.  I was happy to combine the following challenges in my card today.

MFT Color Challenge #25:  Limelight, Peach Bellini, Daffodil & Lavender Fields
Mojo Monday #405:  Sketch
Papertake Weekly:  Anything Goes
Runway Inspired Challenge #87: Holly Fulton  (I was inspired by the lavender, and beautiful lace blouse in the photo)
CAS-ual Chic Challenge #1:  Embossing (I used embossing paste, and dry embossing)
Just Us Girls #301:  Gold

I'm off to find something to make for dinner, then see about making more stuff.  I hope ya'll have a great afternoon!

Hugs!

Congratulations

Hey ya'll!

I hope you've had a wonderful holiday weekend.  It's been nice, sleeping in the last three days, and spending time with family and friends.  The weather has been absolutely amazing here too.  So thankful for everything we got to do, and everyone we got to see this weekend. *happy sigh*

I was fortunate enough to get some time in my craft cave today.  Here is what I put together.

I've been hoarding this Lil Inker Designs ombre patterned paper, and was thrilled that it went with a couple of challenges I wanted to join.  I kept it simple, and love how it turned out, although I'm bummed that I got a small ink smudge in the top left corner somehow.  I was able to get most of it off, but it still looks kinda bad.  I was already done with the card when I noticed it, so I just left it.  Ugh.  What do you do when this happens?

I'm going to submit this card for the following challenges.

City Crafter Week #268:  Nautical
Crazy 4 Challenges #293:  Monochromatic
Just Us Girls #300:  Congratulations
ShowCASe Your Style #18:  Inspiration Photo (Blues)
The Paper Players #252:  The Great Outdoors (sailing is done outdoors, hope this qualifies)
Pile It On #76:  Hot Fun In The Summertime (who doesn't like to go boating in the summer?)
Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #276:  Choose A Past Sketch (I chose sketch #274, my loose interpretation)

That's all for me today!  I'm off to grill some ribs, and finish the potato salad for dinner.  I hope everyone has a wonderful evening, and a great work week.

Stay crafty my friends!

House of Cards July Challenge: Food and/or Inspiration Photo

Greetings my friends!

I have some exciting news to share!  I applied to be on the House of Cards design team again, and was lucky enough to be chosen to return.  I'm super excited!  I am hoping this will help me use up some of the crafty stuff I've been hoarding.  Lord knows I've got a TON of stuff. lol

This month there is an inspiration photo for you.  You can choose to use any kind of food items and/or the colors from the photo.  Here is your inspiration for July.

I love these bright, cheerful colors, and that fruit looks amazing too!  Makes me want to go make fruit salad right now. lol  Here is the card I created.

I was inspired by the colors this week, and I chose to keep it clean and simple.  I watercolored my main focal panel with my distress inks, and added some darker splatters with my Gelatos.  I then cut the butterfly out of vellum, and embossed the tips of the wings with some holographic embossing powder.  Here is a close up of the butterfly, so you can see it better.  I love how it turned out.  It's lovely!

I added the butterfly, some enamel dots, and the sentiment, and called it done.  In real life, the colors are a bit more vibrant.  I really think these butterfly dies are some of my new favorite items.  I will definitely put them to good use.  I'm going to submit this card for the following challenges too.

Freshly Made Sketches #192: Sketch (challenge is closed, but I liked the sketch)
Friday Mashup #215: It's All About 3 (I have three enamel dots)
Can You Case It #76:  Color Challenge (I got as close as I could to Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder & Delightful Dijon)
The Pink Elephant #305: Anything Goes
CASology Week 153:  Pop (I kept everything soft, with a pop of bold color)

The other designers have created some amazing cards for you today.  I hope you are able to check them out, and are inspired to join us this month.  You have until July 31st to play along, and I cannot wait to see what you create.  That's all for me today.  I'm off to work, and then another afternoon of softball.

Stay crafty my friends!

XOXO

Greetings!

How's your weekend going, so far?  Ours has been nice, and relaxing.  My daughter was very sweet, and woke up early this morning, to cook me breakfast.  She said that even though I'm physically her mom, I'm her mom and dad in most ways, so she wanted to do something nice for me on Father's Day.  What a sweet girl I have!  Our movie theater marathon was fantastic yesterday, although, I don't think we'll do that often.  By the middle of the third movie, we were kind of tired of sitting in the same chairs.  They're comfortable, but you know. lol

I feel like I'm on a crafty roll this weekend.  I have another card.  Three days in a row is almost unheard of for me these days.  Here is the next card I have to share with you.

I have these gorgeous MFT Cover Ups sitting in my stash, and I had been wanting to use them.  So, I decided last night was time to do just that.  I love how this turned out, and again, decided that less is more.  For a bit of added interest, I touched up the petals of my flower with my clear Wink of Stella pen.  It's so pretty in real life.  I can't wait to send this to my friend.  I know she'll love it.  I'm going to submit this for the following challenges.

Papertake Weekly: Oh So Pretty
The Card Concept #37: Butterfly Effect (Inspiration Photo)
Fusion Challenge: Sketch & Inspiration Photo

I'm off to make more stuff.  I hope you have a wonderful day, celebrating the fathers in your lives.

Hugs!

You're So Nice!

Hiya peeps!

How is your weekend going, so far?  Mine is going to be nice and relaxing.  My daughter finally has a day off during the weekend, so we've decided to make it a movie marathon afternoon.  There are several movies we've wanted to see, and today we're going to see three of them, in a row.  We've never done more than one movie at the theater before, so this should be interesting.  Our movie theater will give free refills on popcorn, if you purchase the large size, so we will be set all afternoon! lol  Anyway, one of the color challenge blogs I saw yesterday had a gorgeous color combo posted.  I was so taken by it, that I had to create a card when I got home from work.  Here is what I made.

Tell me these colors aren't gorgeous together!  I definitely felt that less was more for this card.  Once I was done with the stenciling, it was hard not to love it.  You can't really see it in the picture, but the butterfly was stamped with water after I colored my paper with distress ink, for a bit of added dimension.  I think this stencil and the butterfly dies from MFT are going to be some of my favorites.  I love the clean look of this card.  And I'm so excited to have another card in my stash too.  I was excited to combine the following challenges also.

Colour Me #76: Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, Coastal Cabana & Neutral
Simon's Wednesday Challenge:  Favorite Technique or Product (I used my favorite product, dies)
MFT Sketch Challenge #233: Sketch (I flipped it to suit my idea)
The Friday Mashup #214:  Stencil This

That's it for me today.  I'm headed on a walk with my mom, then get ready for our afternoon filled with movies and popcorn.  I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Stay crafty my friends!

CASE-ing Christmas Challenge #25

Happy Friday!

How is everyone doing today?  Around here, softball season is in full swing, so there has been a lot of work, and hanging out at the ball fields.  I'm not complaining though, my tan is coming along quite nicely. lol  All of the games are packed into the months of June and July, so we have been at two to three games per week, plus Saturday tournaments.  With it being so crazy at work, on top of trying to go to as many games as I can, I have had very little crafting time.  It's all worth it though.  My daughter is going into her senior year of high school, and I don't want to miss a minute of it.  I only have one child, so this is it.  Her last year of school, SAT/ACT's, college visits and applications.  Wow...it has all come much to quickly for this mama.  *sigh*

Anyway, enough rambling.  There is a new CASE-ing Christmas challenge posted.  This week we are CASEing Ellen.  Here is her beautiful card.

And here is my CASE.

I chose the layout and colors this week.  I wanted to try a new (to me) technique of layering patterned papers under the focal point.  In all, I think it turned out ok, but I'm not sure it is exactly how I wanted it.  It'll grow on me though, I'm sure.  Either way, it's another Christmas card for my stash.

I do hope you'll head over to see what the other designers have created for you.  Their interpretations of Ellen's card this week are awesome.  Maybe you'll get the chance to play along, and start building your Christmas card stash. :-)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

You're The Bestest

Hola ya'll!

I was up early again this morning, thanks to my wonderful internal alarm clock. lol  It was no use attempting to go back to sleep, once I am awake, I'm awake.  Instead, I decided to play along with a couple more challenges.  Here is what I came up with.

I love the outcome, but am trying to fight the urge to add more to it. lol  I embossed the flower in silver, and then watercolored it with my distress inks.  I then cut it out, and popped it up on a white panel, and added a vellum sentiment strip, also embossed in silver.  I'm going to send this to a dear friend, who did something very sweet for my daughter.  I am going to submit this for the following challenges.

House of Cards: Photo Inspiration (I was inspired by the colors and the framed flower that looks watercolored)
Inkspirational Challenge #84: Photo Inspiration (I liked all of the flowers in the photo, so I went with that)
Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge #266: Use Only The Corner
Can You Case It #74: Summer Fun

That's all for me today.  We're off to buy new stuff for our bathroom remodel, and then grab some lunch with my daughter, before she goes into work.  I hope everyone has a great day!

Stay crafty my friends!

June 13, 2015

Thanks

Good day everyone!

I was up before daylight this morning, making sure my girl was fed and taken care of, before she was off to take her ACT's.  As the days go on, the more it's starting to sink in that I'll be an empty nester very soon.  I still stop to wonder where time has gone.  My baby is technically an adult, and headed into her last year of school, before moving on to college. *sigh*  I'm thankful that she's such a great person, with a good head and a big heart.  I know she'll go on to do great things.

Anyway, since I was up, I decided to participate in a few challenges.  I actually made two cards.  Here is the first.

I debated about whether or not to actually post this card.  I had an idea in my head, but it didn't quite turn out how I wanted.  And, I still suck at masculine cards. lol  This paisley stencil from MFT though, is awesome!  I can see many uses for it in the future.  I was excited about using my new Abandoned Coral distress ink too.  That baby had been sitting on my desk, unopened, for months.  I guess this card isn't too terrible.  I think it needs a little "something" though.  Maybe I'll come back to it at a later date and figure it out.  At least I've got another card for my stash.  I'm going to submit this for the following challenges.

The Challenge #38:  Coral, Navy & Kraft
Freshly Made Sketches #190:  Sketch
Bloggers Challenge:  For The Boys
Crazy 4 Challenges #290:  Masculine Cards

Below is the second card I made.

This card was a bit over a week in process.  I colored the image with my Copics (I know, right?! lol) while on layover in Dallas, a bit over a week ago.  This is one of the better coloring jobs I've ever done, so I wanted to use it.  I added a vellum sentiment, embossed in gold and some Pretty Pink Posh sequins, and called it good.  I love how simple it is, and how the image stands out.  These colors together are lovely as well.  I'm going to enter this for the following challenges.

Word Art Wednesday #187:  Anything Goes
Just Add Ink #266:  Pink Pirouette, Night of Navy & Gold
YNS Challenge #16:  Sketch & Color Challenge (I only used the sketch, manipulating it a bit)

That's all for me today.  I'm going to attempt to take a nap, and catch up on some crafty YouTube videos.  I wish all of you a great day!

Hugs!

CASE-ing Christmas Challenge #23

Hiya!

I hope everyone has had a great week, and is going to get some crafty time in, this weekend.  As you read this, I am on vacation in Atlanta, visiting one of my awesome crafty friends.  This is my first time visiting Atlanta, so I'm looking forward to seeing the city, and trying the yummy food they have to offer.

Since today is Friday, I have a new CASE-ing Christmas challenge for you.  This week we are CASEing Judy.  Here is her beautiful card.

And here is my interpretation.

I chose to stick with the layout, and colors this time.  I had been DYING to try THIS idea from Laura Bassen (she's one of my favorite crafty people), and this gave me the opportunity to do so.  I think it turned out ok.  My Copic coloring needs a lot of practice, but I'm happy to have done something outside of my normal box.  It's a very clean Christmas card, and I love that about it.

The other designers have created some amazing cards to share with you today.  I hope you get the chance to go check them out.  We always enjoy it when you get the chance to join us too!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Congratulations

Hello everyone!

I feel like it's been forever, since I made anything, just for fun.  With softball season starting and work being crazy, I haven't had much creative mojo.  Since the weather is gray and overcast, and I'm home alone today, I decided to make some stuff.  I turned off my cell phone (which was more difficult than I expected, and an eye opener), turned up the music, and just created lots of fun things.  Here is the first card I made today.

The colors in my photo are a bit washed out, but this was the best of the bunch.  In real life the colors are much more vibrant.  I clear embossed the flower onto some watercolor paper, and then used my distress inks to watercolor it.  I then used one of my green Copic markers on a piece of vellum, for the leaves.  I love how the leaves have a bit of striation from the marker.  I wish the photo would have been better, so you could see it.  I added my sentiment, not stamped in black for a change, and some sequins to finish it off.  I had to fight the urge to add more stuff, but decided that keeping it CAS would be best.  LOVE how it turned out!  I'm going to submit this for the following challenges.

Color Throwdown #344: Coral Pink, Pale Yellow & Spring Green (I got as close as I could)
Freshly Made Sketches #188: Sketch
Simon's Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes
The Paper Players #247: Tic Tac Toe (I used sequins, embossing & die cut)
Pile It On #71: Focus on Coloring (I colored with distress inks)

I'll be back soon, hopefully, with another something crafty.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

CASE-ing Christmas Challenge #20

Hello, hello!

How is everyone?  I hope you've all been busy crafting up a storm, and enjoying the weather we've all had.  Unfortunately, work has been chaos and I haven't had time to create much, or be outside much yet.  I'm hoping this weekend will be different.

I have another CASE-ing Christmas card for you.  This week we are CASEing Anita.  Here is her lovely card.

And here is my card.

For my card this week, I chose to CASE the layout.  I liked the multiple layers and patterns.  I decided on an A2 card, instead of a square card though.  I loved the colors from the ColorQ challenge #288, and decided to use them on my card.  This is a pretty simple card, and should be easy to mail, as it's not bulky.

I do hope you'll take a minute to go check out what the other designers have created for you today.  As usual, they're pretty fantastic!  I'm off to work, and then taking my mom to the Minneapolis airport, to surprise her with a birthday trip to see my sister and brother in law in San Francisco.  I even spoke to her supervisor at work, so she could have the week off, without her knowing it.  I can't wait to see her face!!

Stay crafty my friends!

You're The Bestest

Hello friends!

Happy Mother's Day!  After a chaotic week at work, I was blessed to be pampered by my lovely daughter, with a pedicure at our favorite spa.  She also cleaned the house all on her own, and made my mother and I breakfast this morning.  Sure do love my girl!  After weeks of long hours, and tons of weekend events, I was happy to finally get some time to be craft today.  Here is the card I made.

I really love the simplicity of this card, even with the layered flower piece.  The distressed cover up, and the ombre ink leaves are gorgeous.  I'm excited to finally use some of the goodies I'd accumulated, but hadn't had the opportunity to use.  If all goes well, I hope to have another something crafty for you this week.  We'll see how things go though.  I'm going to submit my card for the following challenges.

The Pink Elephant #297:  Appreciation/Thank You
City Crafter Challenge #260:  Mood Board/Inspiration Photo (I was inspired by the colors)
Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes
Simon's Wednesday Challenge: Let's Get Sentimental
Can You Case It #69:  Sketch (my loose interpretation)
The Paper Players #244:  Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand & Pistachio Pudding (I tried to get as close as I could)

Stay crafty my friends!

CASE-ing Chrismas Challenge #18

Greetings!

I apologize for this post being so short, but I overslept, and am now running a bit behind.  I wanted to get my card posted though.

It's time for another CASE-ing Christmas challenge.  This week we are CASEing Mynn.  Here is her beautiful card.

And here is the card I made.

I kept the layout the same, but went for totally different colors.  This star background was done with embossing paste and a stencil.  I really wanted to use it, for added dimension.  I stamped the holly twice, once on patterned paper, and popped it up.  After this card was done, I didn't realize how much it looked more like a patriotic card than a Christmas card, but I just left it as is.

That's all for me today.  I hope you'll head over to see what the other ladies have posted for you today.  They're always pretty fabulous.

Have a great day!
