CASE-ing Christmas Challenge #5

Greetings!

Thanks for stopping by again.  I apologize, but this post is going to be short and sweet.  Somehow I forgot to set my alarm, and I overslept. lol

It's time for another CASE-ing Christmas challenge. Here is this weeks card, created by Mynn.  Love the colors...

And here is my card.

As I mentioned above, I LOVE the colors that Mynn chose for her card, so I went in that direction this time.  I also attempted to keep it pretty simple.  I just got this Memory Box ornament die and really like the detail it has.  And, even though I'm not a fan of glitter, I love the glitter paper I saw Jennifer McGuire use on one of her cards and had to try it out.  It's fantastic!  It adds lots of sparkle, and you don't get glitter on anything.  Win/win for me!  I'm going to enter my card for the following challenges.

The Pink Elephant #283: Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly: Take Your Pick (I chose the sketch, this is my loose interpretation)
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes

I have to run, as I'm going to be late for work.  I do hope you'll check out what everyone has created for you this week.  I'm hoping to get some crafty time in this weekend, so that I can share another card with you soon.  Also, don't forget to stop back on Wednesday, to see what my excitement has been about lately. :-)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Valentine's

Hi!

How are you doing today?  Have you had a good weekend?  I hope you've been able to get some crafty goodness in, and are creating stuff like crazy.  It was a gorgeous day yesterday here in NW Iowa, so I did lots of things outside.  I am so thankful to have caught up on some much needed cleaning, and we finally took down all of our Christmas decorations.  Today is gray and dreary, and I have been in my craft room most of the morning.  I've been organizing, and purging.  I purge twice a year, and donate whatever I'm not using anymore.  I love surprising people with random goodies. :-)

There are a couple of challenges I wanted to play along with, so here is a card that I made.  I'm happy to finally have a couple Valentine's made.  I was hoping to have them all done by now, but it's been busy.

I wanted to keep this CAS, and let the shaker and sentiment be the focus.  This is also my first attempt at any kind of ombre type effect.  I am digging it, and hope that the recipient loves it too.  I'm going to submit this card for the following challenges.

The Card Concept #27: Photo Inspiration
As You See It #71: Sketch
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Have A Heart
Just Us Girls #277: Photo Inspiration

I also have another card to share, that I made a week ago, but hadn't gotten around to posting it.  I took an idea from THIS post from Amy Rysavy, and changed it up a bit.  I love how it turned out.  This is R's Valentine this year.  I hope he likes it.

So, that's all for me today.  I'm off to make a big pot of veggie beef soup and then I'm going to try to get more Valentine's done.  Maybe then I'll feel like I'm caught up. lol  I hope all of you have a great day!

Hugs!

CASE-ing Christmas Challenge #3

Greetings!

It's time for challenge #3 over at the CASE-ing Christmas challenge blog.  I have to admit, I'm really happy that I'm on this DT.  It has renewed my crafty mojo, and I am building up my Christmas card stash, just like I wanted.  Here is this weeks card that we were to CASE.  It was created by Judy.  Isn't it fun?

And here is my card.

For this card, I also chose to use the layout.  I changed up the colors, and am quite pleased at how it turned out.  I love the non-traditional look of the light blue with the red, set against the pop of black.  I realized something while creating this card.  I have a new love affair with wet embossing.  I'm not sure why I hadn't really used it much.  It's so cool!  The tree on my card was embossed in silver, and then I added a few gold sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.  Instead of a greeting, I added some luscious red chevron twill ribbon from Pretty Pink Posh as well.  I am going to submit my card for the following challenges.

Papertake Weekly: It's All New (the papers and stamp are new)

I do hope you'll head over to the challenge blog to see what everyone has created for you today.  Hopefully, something will inspire you to create a card, and join in the fun this week.  I hope to be back soon, with another card.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Thankful For You

Hello my friends!

I hope you're having a good weekend, and creating lots of crafty stuff.  It's freezing here, which is perfect for staying indoors, making a big pot of soup, watching movies, and making stuff.  I got some time in my craft room yesterday, which I was thankful for, and I'm hoping to spend more time in there today.

I'm excited to share my card today.  It's my very first shaker card!  Shaker cards continue to be more and more popular, so I thought I'd give it a try.  Here is how it turned out.

I am pretty excited, although I'm thinking that next time, I should not add glitter.  I rubbed my acetate with a dryer sheet to try to remove the static, but it didn't work.  And yep, you read correctly, I said glitter.  I finally broke down and bought a few different colors, so that I could use them in shaker cards.  I will handle it with great caution, and pray I don't get it everywhere. lol  The sketch I used for this just screamed shaker card to me, so I went with it.  I embossed the sentiment on vellum again, and added a bit of twine and a couple of tiny paper flowers that I inked in red.  I am totally loving this card, and I can see many more shaker cards being made, very soon.  I am going to submit this card for the following challenges.

CAS(E) This Sketch #105: Sketch
Card Concept #26: One Year Anniversary/Photo Inspiration (I chose the classy & elegant style, hope I understood correctly)
Word Art Wednesday #165: Anything Goes

Hopefully, I'll have more cards to share over the next few days.  I'm not planning on leaving the house, and am going to try to spend lots of time in my craft room today.  I do hope you'll stop by again soon.  Lots of fun stuff happening over the next few weeks.

Stay warm!

Happy Birthday!

Hiya!

How is everyone doing?  It has been a very long week for me.  We had three blizzards roll through our area, got tons of snow, work is crazy and my mom slipped on the ice and fell and broke her leg.  School was closed for two days, and they had a two hour late start the other two.  R and Hulk went home last Saturday, which is probably a great thing, because I have a feeling they'd be stuck here had they waited even one more day.  I can't remember a time when I've ever been this cold.  I just can't seem to warm up, no matter how many layers I've got on. lol

Anyway, I was hoping to get my Valentine's started, but it just didn't happen.  I did, however, get a fun birthday card done last night.  Here it is...

I love the fun, bright colors and patterns on this card.  I've been trying my luck at heat embossing on vellum lately.  It's an awesome look, but I can't figure out how to not warp my paper a bit.  Any suggestions would be helpful.  I am in love with sequins now too, but "randomly" placing them is so much more difficult than it seems, for me.  I spent a lot of time trying to make these look random. lol  I have a friend who will be celebrating her 35th in a couple weeks, so I'm going to send this to her.  I hope she likes it.  I'm going to submit this for the following challenges.

Sketch For You To Try #20: Sketch
Seize The Birthday: Birthday
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Old & New (I used older stamps and dies I've had in my stash, with new dies and sequins)
Papertake Weekly Challenge: Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Something New (New dies and sequins)

I'll be back soon, with another something crafty.  On Friday, I have another CASE-ing Christmas card for you, and in February and March, I've got some very exciting things going on.  I hope you'll check back regularly, for all of the fun stuff. :-)

Have a wonderful day!

CASE-ing Christmas Challenge #1

Greetings!

I am so excited you've stopped by!  Today is the first challenge over at the CASE-ing Christmas challenge blog.  The idea behind this new challenge is to CASE the card that is posted on the blog, created by one of our design team members.  I think this is a fantastic idea.  It's another great way to help build up your Christmas card stash, throughout the year, and I love that.  Our challenges will be posted weekly, on Friday's.  There is an odd team, and an even team, so there will be tons of inspiration for you.  I do hope you'll head over to the challenge blog to see what is posted today.

So, months ago, I had decided that I wasn't going to be on anymore design teams.  With my daughters busy school schedule, planning college visits, and planning a wedding, I didn't think I would have the time to dedicate to it.  Then the holiday got closer, and I was excited to send cards out for the first time in a couple years.  As I made my list of cards to send, I realized that I only had enough cards for the people on my list, which cleaned out the Christmas card stash I had built up over the last two years.  It was at that point that I felt I needed the motivation to help get me back on track, and build up my stash for next year.  Fortunately for me, a couple months prior, I had been invited to be on the team for a new holiday card challenge, and the owner was kind enough to let me think about whether or not I could make it work.  As you can see now, I am going to make it work. :-)

Anyway, I'll stop rambling now, and get to the first card that we were to CASE.  This one was created by Mynn.  I think it's lovely.

And here is my card.

I chose to CASE the layout of the card.  The sentiment I wanted to use was a vertical sentiment though, so I flipped it.  I wanted to figure out a way for my background to be simple, and kind of look like there was snow on it.  So I used the Candy Cane Stripe embossing folder on kraft cardstock, then I ran my white pigment ink over the raised parts and embossed them with clear embossing powder.  As you can see, the stripes are not saturated with white ink.  There is just enough to make them noticeable, but you can still see the kraft underneath.  I don't normally use traditional Christmas colors, but for this one, I couldn't help but to pair the candy cane stripes with red and white.  In all I love how this turned out.  It's nice and simple.

I'm hoping you'll join us for this weeks challenge.  I would love to see what you come up with!  I hope to be back soon, with another something crafty.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank You

Hello everyone!

Happy New Year!!  I hope that all of you have a blessed, and prosperous year.  2015 is going to be a busy one for me, but I look forward to all of the excitement.  I'm hoping to be more crafty too.  You'll have to come back tomorrow, for the start of something new.  Then in February, I'm pretty excited to be guest designing for one of my favorite challenges.  Hopefully, you'll join me in some of my new crafty adventures. :-)

I have another card for you today.  Here is what I made.

As the sun is less and less available, it's harder for me to snap pictures of my cards.  I tried a light box, but it didn't work out for me.  I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my pictures were terrible.  I'm not sure what to do, but if anyone has any suggestions on taking better photos, I would appreciate the help!  So, I stamped the flower in VersaMark and embossed in silver, then colored it with my SU! Blendabilities.  This is a huge accomplishment for me, as you know I'm not one who colors much.  I love how it turned out though.  I'm going to submit this card for the following challenges...

Creative Card Crew #77: Anything Goes
Just Us Girls #273: Inspiration Photo
Mojo Monday #378: Sketch (tall and skinny this week, my card is 3 1/2 x 5 1/2)

I hope you'll stop by tomorrow, to check out my first new crafty adventure.  Have a wonderful day!
Hugs!
