Good day to all!
I don't have anything crafty to share, but I wanted to hopefully bring a smile to all of your faces. We have a new family member, and I am completely smitten.
Meet Hulk!
Isn't he adorable?! I LOVE those eyes! He's a Cane Corso, and R has waited a very long time to get him. As you can see from the size of his paws, he's gonna be a big boy. Full grown, he'll be about 140 to 160 pounds, and will be about waist high to R (he's 5'10). Talk about massive! lol
Anyway, I'm off to start my work day, and hopefully get to leave a little early. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Hugs!

Be Kind
Hi!
I hope you've all had a great weekend, filled with fun things. We got home from our vacation to Denver last night, and I already want to go back. I LOVE Denver!! I lived there for a few years, a while back, and I have been trying to get back ever since. It just feels like "home" to me, almost like I'm supposed to be there. It was awesome to catch up with old friends, and meet new ones. This was my daughter's first trip to Colorado, and she has now fallen in love with Denver as well. She did everything possible, in an effort to get me to extend our stay. lol I'm fairly certain we'll be back there sooner than later. :o)
Now, onto today's crafty goodness. I am happy to bring you my next card for the latest House of Cards challenge. For all of the details on this weeks challenge, click HERE.
Since there are 5 Monday's in this month, this weeks challenge is an all play, so to say. This means that all of the different design teams are participating. There's an inspiration photo and you get to choose the type of style of your choice. For this week, I chose CAS, again. I'd really like to get better at CAS cards, and the only way to do that, is to keep making them. I struggle with the color orange, so when I saw the inspiration photo, I was a bit stressed. I decided that CAS was definitely the way to go, for me. I really love this Be stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. It was perfect in portraying the message I wanted to send to someone who's always struggling with anger issues.
I've combined the following challenges in my card today:
Inspired By #85 - Inspiration Photo
Annabelle Stamps #168 - Sketch (my very loose interpretation)
Glitter & Sparkle #43 - CAS
Pile It On #30 - Anything Goes
I do hope you'll head over to the HOC blog to see all of the gorgeous cards that are posted today. There are TONS and they're all pretty wonderful. Maybe you'll get the chance to join us this week too!
I'll leave you with a few photos I took of our trip into the mountains. This was Sydney's first time, and the look on her face was priceless! She had a huge smile on her face the whole time we were up there. That makes me happy.
Oh! And before I forget, I was really excited to meet one of my favorite papercrafting idols, Laura Davis (A Day In The Life of The Paper Poppy, @healthy_mama). I've been a huge fan since the early 2 Sketches 4 You days, so this was truly a highlight for me. She was kind enough to fit us into her schedule, and joined us for lunch. Let me tell you, she's even more beautiful in person, and she is as beautiful of a person on the inside as well. We had a lovely time, and I'm so glad that I got to meet her. Thanks again Laura!
Have a wonderful day!

Use Your Words
Hello, hello!
It's a wonderful day here, and I can't wait to be done with my work day, so that I can come home and play with some more new goodies. We got a much needed rain shower this morning, but now it's going to be hot and humid. A couple months ago, when it snowed in May, I was longing for the warm Texas weather. Now that we've got the heat and humidity, I am almost regretful I missed it. lol Anyway, I'll move on to why I'm posting today.
I have tons of photos that I haven't done anything with, in ages. I haven't even created a scrapbook layout in probably two years. What's bad about that, is that I have tons of supplies, and photos, but I'm not doing anything with them. I'm even subscribed to the monthly Scrapbook Kit at Studio Calico. When my new box arrives each month, I oooh, and ahhh, over everything and then put it in my scrap room with the rest of them, where they have began to collect dust. I've been afraid to create any kind of layout, due to my lack of creating them, and therefore just let the boxes continue to collect dust.
I'm happy to announce that I'm dusting off all of my goodies, and photos, and jumping into the scrapbooking world again. Thanks to Brenshevia, over at the Use Your Words challenge blog, I have been given an opportunity to use up some of my stuff, and finally use the photos I've been collecting. She has kindly invited me onto her design team, and I couldn't be more excited. I'm nervous, but still excited. lol I'll include a bit about the challenge site below, so that you can get a feel for what we're going to be doing.
Our challenges will be posted on the 1st and 15th of each month. You will have until the 29th of the month to complete the challenge. On the 1st and 15th you will be given a challenge inspiration word. This word can be used as your title or in your journaling. We MUST see the word somewhere on your project.
I will be back on the 15th with my first reveal as a new DT member. I do hope you'll join me on this new journey, and use up some of your neglected goodies and photos as well.
Have a wonderful day!

Change is good, sometimes...
Hello friends!
For those of you who visit me often, I'm sure you've noticed quite a change. I had been thinking about updating my blog for some time, so that it looked more professional, but hadn't had the chance until now. I have to admit, I'm super excited about it. Sharon at Plumrose Lane did an amazing job! It's funny how an update, and a new look, can make you feel so much better. I think I'm most happiest about my customized blog banner, at the top. It's the first time it's looked that good. lol I've also gone from Where'd All My Money Go?! to One Crafty Chica. It goes better with my email, and everything else, and is more mature sounding. I loved the old title, but it's time to grow up, a bit. :o)
I guess I should get back to work, now that I've done nothing but stare at my new and improved blog for the last half hour. lol
Have a great weekend!

An Indefinite Break
Hello friends!
Greetings from the sub zero, freezing temps here in Iowa! It was -3 this morning, and will be getting down to like -7 tonight. I'm longing for the shorts and flip flops weather that I had in Dallas!
I have enjoyed spending time with my daughter, doing the things together that we hadn't done in years. The decision to move here has been a wise one. I can see the difference in her personality and attitude, and I can tell that she's glad I'm here. Just the fact that she's starting to open up about the "issue" we're currently dealing with makes me believe that this is where I'm supposed to be. I can also tell that my mom is more relieved, and less stressed now that I'm here to take care of everything. *happy sigh*
The free time I used to have that was filled with papercrafting is now filled with quality time spent with my daughter and mother. My priorities have changed, and I've resigned from all of my design teams. I have had a wonderful time being a part of each one of them, but ultimately, this is the right thing. The FYI challenge blog will still be a part of my normal routine. I own it, so I will continue to create the posts for it. I may even participate every once in a while, but for the most part, my blog will be quite dormant.
I will be checking in on everyone, as often as I can. I will try to post photos of everyday things we're having fun doing, from time to time as well.
It has been a great time, but I'm onto new adventures...
Hugs!

A New Chapter Begins...
Hello hello!
As you know from visiting my blog lately, I've been traveling back and forth a lot to my mom's in Iowa, due to a personal issue going on with my daughter. When everything first happened back in August, I started looking for a job in that area, with no luck. I was patient, and kept my eyes open, even though there wasn't much in that area. Recently an opportunity presented itself. I applied, had two phone interviews, and then a face to face interview the last time I was in the area for court. On Thursday of last week, I got the call, offering me the position and I accepted it. It's a much needed blessing, and I'm so thankful to Him for helping me find something. Not only is it a senior level management position, but it's also more money, and only a 10 minute drive from my mom's house. I couldn't have asked for better. I truly believe that by leaving it in His hands, he provided for me and my family in a way I couldn't have imagined. God is so good!
On Friday I gave my two weeks notice to the company I have been with for almost 10 years. To say they were shocked, is an understatement, but everyone understood and is 100% supportive of my decision. They have been so wonderful to me, and my family, not only during these past couple months of turmoil but always when there has been something I've needed to attend to, and it has been my absolute pleasure to have been a part of their "family" for so long. It's bittersweet, to say the least. I've established many wonderful friendships and business relationships, and everyone will be greatly missed. My last day with them is the 21st of December. I start my new job on December 31st.
For this reason, my blog will be dormant until after the new year. I have one post scheduled for the 12th, but then I won't have anything else until the first week of January. I hate the packing and moving process, but this time I'm almost happy to do everything I need to do, because of the circumstances. I look forward to being able to provide the support my daughter and mother need, full time, and I'm also excited to continue my career with a new company.
I would appreciate any prayers or well wishes you can send my family's way, as it will definitely be a crazy few weeks, and an adjustment period for all of us. I just hope I can do everyone proud and continue to do my thing, without issue.
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and safe and Happy New Year, spent with loved ones and friends! May 2013 be filled with many wonderful blessings for you and your families.
Hugs!

Fascinating Fridays
Good day!
I totally spaced it off, but I was featured on Fascinating Fridays, this last week (7/27). To see what it's about, click HERE. I'm super excited to be featured. Thanks to Noor and Rochelle!
Before I go, I also wanted to share a couple photos from the Rangers/White Sox game last night. We had amazing seats, just a few rows up from the field, between home plate and 3rd base. The Rangers won 2-0. Gotta love it! I apologize for the grainy photo. I took it with my phone.
I'll be back soon with another crafty post. Have a wonderful day!

Unscripted Sketches Christmas In July Spotlight
Hi ya'll!
It's my turn to be our featured spotlight designer for the Christmas in July party going on at Unscripted Sketches. When thinking about what kinds of traditions we have in our family, they always seem to revolve around food. So, I've decided to share an old family recipe. Welcome to my kitchen!
Some of you may know, but for those of you who don't, my father is Hispanic and my mother is white. The holidays were always so exciting because we had the best of both worlds when it came to what foods were prepared. I remember my grandmother, on my dad's side, making dozens and dozens of homemade tamales for all of us, while my grandmother, on my moms side, made things like apple pie (my Hispanic grandfathers favorite) and turkey and dressing. It was definitely quite the spread. Ever since I can remember my grandmother on my mom's side would make us a dessert that didn't really have a name, that I know of, but we call it Orange Fluff. I'm pretty sure it was just some stuff she dumped in a bowl, that sounded good, and wound up being better than expected. lol It's easy, and I can't remember a holiday without it. My mom still makes this for us at every holiday, where we'll all be together, and it makes us all feel like we're "home". Below, I'm going to show you how easy it is to make.
Orange Fluff
1 16oz container Cool Whip
1 24oz container Cottage Cheese
1 15oz can Mandarin Oranges
I drain the Mandarin oranges and cut them in thirds. This way you'll get more out of one can. You can use two cans, if you'd like, and leave them whole. Either way works. Once I've cut the oranges up, I add all of my ingredients to my mixing bowl. It looks like a huge mess, but believe me, it's worth it.
Once you have everything in the bowl, you're almost done. See, I told you it was easy. All you have to do now is mix everything together.
Once I have everything combined, I use a few of the reserved, whole, orange slices to decorate the top. You'll need to refrigerate this for at least an hour so it can set, and keep it refrigerated because of the ingredients.
I have made this simple and easy dessert for office parties, and other gatherings, and it's always a big hit. I'm not sure what it is about it, but I'm glad that everyone enjoys it. This recipe is also easily converted to low fat, and low calorie. All you need to do is buy sugar free jello, low fat cool whip, and 1% or 2% cottage cheese. Remarkably, it still tastes exactly the same. :)
That's all for me today. I hope you enjoyed hanging with me in my kitchen. You'll have to let me know if you try this out, and what you thought about it. Thanks for joining our Christmas in July party at Unscripted Sketches. There is plenty more fun coming up, so I hope you'll continue to stay tuned for that.
Have a wonderful day!
Hugs!

Is it too early to start asking Santa...
...for Christmas presents? I think I found the next victim in my "Dear Santa" letters. lol I didn't get David Beckham, or Willy Monfret, so maybe the third time's a charm?
Check out those eyes! And, those cute freckles...adorable. His name is Jesse Williams, and I'm sure many of you know him from Grey's Anatomy. I think I may have just become a fan of the show. Maybe. I better get to work, now that I've wasted like a half hour browsing through photos of this guy. lol
Hope you have a great day. Enjoy the eye candy!

More exciting news!
I mentioned being pretty busy this year, craft wise. Well, now I get to share more exciting news on that topic.
I've also been invited to be on the DT at Use It Tuesdays! I'm super excited to be on another DT that challenges me to use my neglected, hoarded, or new stash frequently. Our challenges are bi-weekly on Tuesdays. There are some amazing women on this team as well, and I'm honored to be able to work with them also.
My blog should be fairly busy for the next few months with all of my design team postings. lol I hope you'll come along with me for the ride. :)

So...
...2012 is going to start out very busy for me, craft wise. Why, you ask? Because of this!
I have been invited to be a Bellie Girl! I'm super excited that I will be on a DT that forces us to use our old, hoarded and neglected stash. I'm joining an amazing group of ladies, and I couldn't be more honored to be on the team. Our challenges post every other Wednesday, so I hope you'll join me and use up some of that stuff you just had to have that hasn't ever been used. I'll be back on the 4th of January with my first project as a Belli Girl. :)
Have a great day!

Addiction
ad·dic·tion
/əˈdɪk

noun:
the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming.
I am posting today with a plea for help. I do not know where to start, except to say: "Hello, my name is Stephanie, and I'm addicted." Maybe someone can knock some sense into me before I'm too far gone. lol
Addicted to what, you ask? Well, I'm totally addicted to these babies!
*sigh* Yes, I have a bad addiction to Nestabilities. I got an amazing Christmas bonus at work this year and guess what I bought? 40 (yes, i said 40) new sets of Nestabilities. The ones in the photo above aren't hung on my rail on the wall yet because I'm not sure how to hang all of them, but the rest have all been put away nicely. Here is what they look like, all together.
You might be asking why I think I'm addicted. And although the photos don't really do them justice, I counted them all, and I own 94 sets of Nestabilities. If you do the math, well...let's just say I could have put a down payment on a new car, or even bought a cheap cash car with the amount I've spent. lol I'm feeling rather ashamed at the massive amount of these dies I have purchased, but I can't seem to stop buying them. I almost feel as if I need to hide in the closet with my laptop every payday, so no one will catch me buying any more. hahaha!
Anyway, it's a good thing I will be busy starting in January, as I must start using all of these pretties so I don't feel like I've wasted all that money. Anyone else have an addiction to something like this? Anyone ever have a crafty intervention to your addiction and live? lol

So Excited, I Might Hyperventilate! lol
I'm super excited, and still in shock. Finally, I can share some exciting news with all of you! I was invited to be a part of this...
...and I couldn't be any happier. I'm feeling very blessed at this wonderful opportunity. You must check out the list of amazingly talented ladies I'll be joining for at least three months, beginning in January. You can see all of them HERE. In case you're unfamiliar with Cardabilities, it's a bi-monthly sketch blog. The sketches are posted on the 15th and 30th of each month. I do hope you'll be able to join me on this new adventure. I'm really, really exited! :)
Off to find a paper bag...

Thanks y'all!
I've been super busy, and hadn't realized that I was chosen for some cool honorable mentions for THIS card. Check them out, if you get the chance.

Dear Santa, (2011 Edition)
So, for the last two years I have tried to be really good. I haven't been as naughty (sorta) and I haven't complained much about anything. I asked you for David Beckham, as my Christmas gift both years, but to this day he still hasn't arrived. I'm not sure if he got lost in the mail, or is stuck with the wrong address and zip code on him in the back of a post office somewhere, but I've given up. *sigh* Apparently it just wasn't meant to be. I understand that you're really busy making sure all of the kiddos get their gifts, and am thankful that you make them a priority. With that being said, I am going to ask for something different, and hopefully, less difficult to deliver this year. Maybe since I'm sending my request in super early, I will actually get what I ask for. I'm attaching a photo, so that you know the exact one, when you go to pick him out for me.
Love,
Just for your information, his name is Willy Monfret, and yes, you can Google him. He's a French/Caribbean mix who is about 6'3, with blue/green eyes and an amazing physique. I hear he's currently living in the US (California area) and is hoping to break into acting from modeling soon. If you have any questions, or need help with this, please don't hesitate to ask. I will be more than happy to provide any information you need to help with this request. Thank you, in advance!
Love,

My Heart Is Heavy
Hi everyone,
I've struggled over the last 24 hours as to whether or not I was going to post this. Ultimately, I feel it's important to share my story with everyone, if it helps even one person. First, I'd like you to meet my friend Ben. Always smiling, always laughing, always there for everyone. A beautiful human being.
Ben turned 29 two weeks ago, and took his last breath on Wednesday, June 15th, thanks to a careless driver who ran a red light because they were texting instead of paying attention to their driving. It's a terrible tragedy. He was killed instantly from the impact, and I'm glad that he didn't suffer.
I used to be one who texted while driving, and I never thought that one quick text could be the end of another persons life. Sadly, that's exactly how the events of his passing went down almost 48 hours ago. Recently, Texas has come up with a law stating that it will be illegal to text or talk on your phone while driving. Unfortunately, it will come too late for any kind of real punishment for the driver who ended my friends life so carelessly. The law does't take into effect until September.
Don't forget to tell your loved ones how much you care about them, every chance you get.

It's sad that this brilliant, amazing, wonderful young man won't get the opportunity to grace us with his presence ever again. I tell you, one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my life, was call his mother to let her know that her baby had been in an accident that he didn't survive. I'm blessed to have had him in my life, even if for such a short time, and I will miss him beyond anything that I can describe.
Please, please, please, I beg of you, try to remember what's important when you're driving - everyone's safety. I wouldn't wish this feeling of grief, and loss on anyone. It is, however, a huge reminder as to just how short life can be.

MIA For A Bit
Hello my friends!
I will be moving this weekend, and have requested some time off from my DT's. Things will be pretty quiet around here for a couple weeks or so. Once I get settled, I'll be back to posting regularly.
Don't forget to check back on Saturday for my Unscripted Sketches anniversary blog hop. It's going to be lots of fun! Also, don't forget about the latest FYI challenge, happening now, until the 31st.
I will also get back to commenting and visiting once I'm able. I hope everyone has a wonderful end of March/beginning of April. :)
Hugs!

Sketches4Cards
Hi ya'll!
I have some exciting news to share. A while back Anam from Twisted Sketches approached me (and a few others) to see if we would be interested in creating a card using a sketch for her new iPhone/iPad/iTouch application called Sketches4Cards. I was flattered that she thought I was creative enough to be included in this fantastic project. You can click on the link above to read all about Sketches4Cards and Sketches2Scrapbook. They're wonderful applications for any papercrafter!
Here is the card I created for the gallery.
I'm pretty excited to be a part of such a cool event. I also have a layout in the Sketches2Scrapbook gallery, but can't find the photo on my laptop. Boo! I hope you'll head over to the website to check it out.
Have a great day!
